Blind guardian: Mirror mirror

Los bardos por excelencia. No mueven un público masivo, como por ejemplo Metallica, Blind guardian es uno de los referentes actuales del metal épico, al menos para el que suscribe. Mi primera vez con ellos fue en torno a 1996, cuando un compañero del colegio me dejo The forgotten tales. En aquel entonces, me resultó un grupo indiferente. Pero alguna canción me caló hondo. Años después, estando ya en la facultad, y en plena fiebre de El señor de los anillos, comentamos entre compañeros la letra de varias canciones, incluyendo The lord of the rings. Decidido a dar una nueva oportunidad a Blind guardian, comienzo a escucharles de nuevo, y esta vez pasaron rápidamente de la indiferencia a ir rápidamente a conseguir todos su discos. Hoy mi admiración por ellos está a la altura de Metallica, un pelín por encima incluso.

La canción que nos ocupa apareció en 1998, en el disco homenaje a Tolkien y su Silmarillion: Nightfall in Middle Earth. El disco es magistral, aunque si llegar al nivel de su gran obra, Imaginations from the other side. Y cada canción se identifica con una parte del Silmarillion. La presente, Mirror mirror, nos habla de Turgon y la historia de Gondolin.
